BEHIND THE SCENES ON THE METRO | M6 | 66 minutes

It sets the pace for the daily lives of those living in the Paris region and tourists. It carries them to work or around the Paris sights. Every day, 11 million passengers in a hurry rush in without really paying any attention to how it works or the parts you don’t see. And yet, behind the 303 stations, the 203 kilometers of track and more than 700 trains per day, the Paris Metro hides a secret life in its basements that is little known by the general public. The Metro keeps its treasures hidden: colorful characters, who come to work six feet underground every day. The noise of the trains as they pass, the pre-recorded announcements and the crowd all set the pace of their lives and for some this gloomy place becomes a second home, a family. 24/24 and 7/7, the hive is buzzing. 5,000 people work there non-stop… for the safety of the passengers. Who are these workers of the shadows of the Metro? How is their underground life organized? What are the rules in this railroad community?   A journey of discovery six feet under… alongside the men and women who make the Paris Metro come alive!   For three months, we followed the colorful characters of the Metro. They are workers, simple regulars, musicians or even a seduction coach and, every day, they pass and re-pass without ever recognizing each other. And yet one thing binds them together: the Metro, the underground location where, if you want to exist there, you must help each other and share the joy and good humor. Like Céline, a young ticket inspector, who is discovering the territory for the first time; Bod, the Metro hairdresser; Cynthia, a young singer who came to take her chance during the famous Metro musician casting session and dreams of being famous and get spotted, while a seduction coach is trying to teach two students how to pull in one of the most difficult locations… the Metro!
