Tonight we take you to Marseilles. For several months our crews accompanied the paramedics, the fire fighters and the ER unit at the North hospital. Day and night, they witnessed the tragedies and minor bumps and bruises of the people. And, as often happens in Marseilles, things aren’t quite like they are elsewhere. At the centre of the report is the prestige, elite squad of the Marseilles Marine Fire fighters. With more than 100,000 thousand attendances per year they are on permanent alert: concealed births, fires, over-excited fans, they are the front line of assistance in this bubbling city. In record time, fire fighters, paramedics or ER teams confront every type of situation, from the most comical to the tragic. However, some interventions are not without risk: the rescuers sometimes face hostility from certain groups, who take a very bad view of these people intruding on “their territory”.
