Emergency Vets: where the action is | TF1 | Appels d'urgence
A Chihuahua is having a litter in the middle of the night? A life-saving op for a dog in his owner’s home? That’s what the emergency vet service does. They are called out over 100,000 times per year. But what happens when the pet happens to be a bear or a tiger driven to frenzy by pain? They’re called the New Pets: rodents, spiders, snakes, apes and other wild and dangerous beasts. In around 5% of homes they have taken over the place of cats and dogs and today there are around 2 million of them in France. Some are in zoos, but the majority are in private homes, sometimes living with the family. Vets have become accustomed to this new style of wildlife, but sometimes a call can be very risky.
