FIRE BRIGADES OF SEINE-SAINT-DENIS, TO HELP AT ALL COSTS | Appels d'Urgence | NT 1
Tucked in between the boundary of the 18th arrondissement of Paris and Saint-Denis, Saint-Ouen is one of the most densely populated towns in department 93… Apart from its famous flea market, the commune consists of a tangle of popular neighborhoods in 4 tiny km2, bounded by 3 major, accident-riddled highways. Situated in the heart of the town, the firehouse has 35 firefighters. Exclusively men. Assigned to the Fire Fighters Brigade of Paris, they have special military status. Day and night, they watch over the 65,000 residents of their sector. At their head: Jacques. An experienced firefighter, he runs large-scale interventions. The new arrival, Romain, is the barrack’s bundle of fun… but, once in contact with victims, his coolness is praised by his colleagues. And Greg is noted for his gentleness and his humanity. Always having the right word, whatever the circumstances. Fire-fighting, home rescues or even settling of accounts… Almost 20 times a day they set out in their trucks to take on the streets of Saint-Ouen. For several months, we shared the action-packed days of these firefighters in the heart of department 93.
