Going on trial – Investigation on a made-to-measure justice | TF1 | Le Droit de savoir
Our team followed, day after day, all the stages of the new legal procedures: an interpellation for an offence, then the interrogation, the fast audience of judgement for this same offence and, finally, how the decisions of the judge are carried out. Our journalists investigated out into the field and they noted that justice was changing gear. A little like the American legal system, with immediate trials and “plead guilty” proceedings used to judge drunk driving, conjugal violences, attacks, thefts or the quarrels between neighbours. In other words, the daily lot of the correctional courts, as the one in Rheims. In Troyes, our journalists were behind the scenes of a trial on appeal. A 27 year old man, already known in court, is shown to have killed another 21 year old man. First acquited, will he be condemned on appeal at the request of the public prosecutor?
