Sonia Jimenez-Lejeune and Olivier Barouk were kept locked up in their house in Soloa, a small village in the heart of Maya country in Guatemala. One of the most beautiful sites in the world. After two hours of torture, they were kidnapped by seven armed men, some of them wearing hoods. That was Tuesday, December 9, 2003. Since then, no one has seen or heard again of the couple. No ransom was ever demanded by the kidnappers. What has become of Sonia and Olivier? Who kidnapped them and why? Political assassination, a crime of passion, vengeance? The mystery remains complete. Two months and a half after their disappearance, the families are still without news, for the investigation is foundering. The Guatemalan police have found no clues. Our film crew followed two policemen from the OCRB, (Central Office of Criminal Repression) sent to Guatemala City, the capital of the country. They went to reinforce the Guatemalan investigators and to try to resolve with them the mystery of Sonia and Olivier’s disappearance.
