JAPANESE INFLUENCE ARRIVES IN FRANCE | M6 | 66 minutes

It’s a long-awaited event for all curious fans of Japanese culture! Japan Expo arrives in Marseille in February, and over 50,000 visitors flock to discover the latest in manga and anime. With special guests such as the voice of the famous character Son Goku, sumo workshops and cosplay competitions, the atmosphere promises to be great! But the Japan craze doesn’t stop there, and is exploding all over France. At Kodawari, customers sometimes queue for hours to eat the best ramen in the capital. For a long time, Japanese gastronomy was reduced to sushi, but now, under the influence of Japanese pop culture, other dishes are seducing the French. And even more surprising products, such as snack foods found only in Japan, are being imported en masse into France to appeal to a population that dreams of living “like the Japanese”. Japanese culture is everywhere, from the very young to the very old, and Mangas in particular continue to make headway, making France the world’s 2nd largest market for these comic strips…
