On January 27 2014, when Sophie Richard returns home after a weekend at Disneyland, she discovers her house ransacked. In a panic, she calls on a neighbor for help and, in her garage, she discovers her husband, Julien Thévent, slain by several blows of a pickax to his chest. The theory of a burglary that is suggested does not convince the gendarmes, who suspect some evil scheme is operating.
