In South Africa, young kids from the townships, driven by poverty and boredom, practice an extreme sport: surfing on the roofs of trains. Every day, teenagers risk their lives “train surfing”. Some try to dance as they go under the bridges, while others go down to the “gravel”—they let their heels drag along the ground as the train moves. The game often proves fatal.
