Cap d’Agde: every summer a veritable human tide sweeps over the beaches of this Mediterranean seaside resort. The population increases ten-fold. But a tiny bump or a big scare can spoil that eagerly awaited week of lazing around. So to make the summer safe for us, nothing is left to chance. Emergency services and doctors work hand in hand to provide a rapid and effective joint response to the minor problems and the major concerns that can turn our vacation into a nightmare. We followed these men and women through the reality of their daily lives. In our report, we compare the carelessness of the vacationers—which sometimes turns to foolhardiness—with the rigor of the operations by these emergency service professionals who give up their own vacation to make ours safe.
