Teen parties: adolescent only parties | France 2 | Envoyé Spécial

They’ve taken over the nightlife of Paris and major provincial cities: “teen parties”, evenings in nightclubs limited to adolescents of 13 to 17 from 6 till 10pm. The concept was created in England and the United States 15 years ago: it’s “safeclubbing”, a party without risk. During these events, everything is done to reassure parents: alcohol is banned and entrance is strictly controlled. In Monaco, we followed Emma, 13, on her first evening in a nightclub. With Maxime, the event organiser, we filmed behind the scenes of one of the biggest “teen parties” on the Côte d’Azur: 800 teens on the dance floor. In the United States we were able to film a mega “teen party”. Who are the economic players in this new market? Are these parties for teens really free from risk? An investigation into a phenomenon that is concerning families.
