THE DIY FAIR | M6 | 66 minutes
From November 27 to December 1, the Paris Exhibition Center is hosting the 26th edition of the handymen’s fair. Those people who can do everything themselves and who are going to pass on their skills and tips to the visitors. The expression Do It Yourself is English, but it’s taken on in France: knit your own hats, “design” your shoes, redecorate the living room, all with a snap of the fingers. At this fair, it is possible! Over the 5 days, the DIY Fair’s ambition is to welcome more than 450,000 visitors. In Hall 6 at the Porte de Versailles in Paris, 300 exhibitors are presenting their 100% handmade creations. What are the decorating trends this year? How do you get ready for the holidays easily and not too expensively? What are the little tips for learning how to produce small everyday objects? For the very first time, Nelly will be presenting her revolutionary item at a Fair: beauty mix. It looks like a Thermomix, but this machine is not designed to prepare food: it’s for creating your own cosmetics: moisturizing creams, lip gloss, shampoos. The idea of making her own cosmetics came to her while she was expecting her first child. “I wanted to know the exact contents of the creams that I was going to put on my baby.” Others will be offering jewelry created on the spot, or show you how to repair your broken dishes, adding a trendy and designer quality to them. And Manon, along with a dozen other amateur “designers”, will take part in the contest organized by the Fair for the best self-designed outfit. Catwalk, jury and the dream is within reach.
