THE GUITTARD CASE: MURDER AT THE STREET PARTY? | Enquêtes criminelles | W9
Le Mans, in the Sarthe. When she visits her father on June 29 2015, Frédéric Guittard’s eldest daughter discovers an apartment in a shambles: furniture overturned, drawers scattered and, even more horrific, the half-naked body of Frédéric, his pants around his ankles! This seems to eliminate the theory of a burglary that went wrong, especially as very little was taken: just a computer and a cell phone were missing. So, who could bear such a grudge against this former sales director known as a fun-loving party beast that they slew him with three pistol shots, including one to the head? Investigators’ suspicions focus upon his wife, Touria. For months she had been pouring out her heart to her friends about her marital problems. After 25 years of marriage, Frédéric was said to have asked for a divorce and the couple were engaged in a merciless war, in particular over the sharing of their assets. The wife absolutely denies having got rid of her husband and, what’s more, she has a solid alibi at the time of the murder. Then, another fact lends support to her claim. On the day of the tragedy, the victim’s cell phone was located in the south of France. At last, investigators have a lead. A lead that will lead them more than 1,200km… to Ajaccio, in Corsica.
