THE PARIS FAIR | M6 | 66 minutes
The Paris Fair, the biggest fair in France, is the biggest sales gathering of the year. More than 450 thousand visitors are expected over 12 days right in the middle of the Easter vacation. As couples, families or alone, this is where the French come to get a sense of the latest consumer trends that change and improve life inside and outside the home. At the fair, they can all go overboard for a revolutionary brush, or a swimming pool or an electric bicycle. The 1,700 exhibitors vie in imagination. On average, visitors spend around 500 Euros and they’re all seeking inspiration from the Gyro Gearloose inventors of the Lépine competition. Séverine and Sébastien have set themselves a budget of 200 Euros. They’re here to meet the kings of patter: the hucksters. For demonstrators like Achour, the fair is the corner stone of their business because it represents as much as 20% of their annual turnover. The sales event at the Porte de Versailles is also the stage for a fierce catering competition with the battle of the food trucks: Rudy is an old hand, but he has to deal with the whimsical weather of the month of May. Food, gadgets, miracle products, we dive into the heart of the Paris Fair.
