The Patricia Wilson case and the mystery of the killer gardener | M6 | 66 minutes
In the early morning of August 12 2012, the nearest neighbor and closest friend of Patricia Wilson notices that her door is half open… and she decides to pay a visit to this woman from overseas. When she enters the house she makes a terrible discovery: Patricia’s blood is all over the walls, but there’s no sign of her body. All the evidence seems to indicate that someone killed the lovely English rose and got rid of her body. But who? Investigators carry out their sleuthing work and very quickly identify a suspect: the gardener, and lover of the victim: one Jean-Louis Cayrou. The evidence is overwhelming: the man has no alibi and the victim’s blood is found in his vehicle. And he even has a motive: shortly before she disappeared, Patricia had decided to put an end to her extramarital affair. Only there’s one snag: although the man went to the police voluntarily a few days after the tragedy and admitted a fleeting adventure with the English woman, he has consistently proclaimed his innocence ever since and has even written to former Minister of Justice, Christiane Taubira. According to Cayrou the guilty party is none other than Patricia’s spouse, Donald Marcus. At the time of the event, the couple was having problems and even considering a separation. However, since the death of his partner, Marcus has moved back into the little house in the hamlet of Landes-Basses. He’s living without a care on the scene of the crime as if nothing happened. Who brutally murdered Patricia Wilson? Why such an outburst of violence? More than three years after the murder of the retiree, whose body has never been found, the gardener will go on trial in May 2016.
