For two years, Ukraine has been a country at war, besieged on all fronts by a determined enemy. Since the first Russian tanks entered the country on February 24, 2022, nothing has been the same. Every Ukrainian’s daily life has been turned upside down, and with it his or her vision of the future. And yet, despite the attacks, the thousands of deaths, and a country entirely focused on a single objective – to contain and repel the Russian ogre – Ukrainian men and women are still living, loving, marrying and having children, perhaps even more intensely than before. But wear and tear is increasingly dividing young people. Today, 52% of Ukrainians do not want to go to the front, and any means are good enough to avoid mobilization. On Tuesday April 2, 2024, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a bill lowering the age of military service. This concerns tens of thousands of young boys. Although young patriots are still fighting like lions on the 900 km of front line separating Ukraine and Russia. Some are prepared to do anything to escape the butchery of the East: bribery, buying false documents… even marrying a disabled woman.  Those without the financial means take perilous paths… Many of them die crossing frozen rivers on the Moldavian border, or trying to brave the Carpathian Mountains of Romania. This documentary takes us deep inside the sacrificed youth of the Ukraine. We tell the story of those who want to fight and those who don’t.
