Like just over 230,000 couples every year, they love each other and are about to say “I do” for life.

But today, more and more couples are getting married in their own way, far from the traditions and rituals of the past century. While religious weddings now account for only a third of all ceremonies, secular unions are on the rise. By the beach, in grandma’s garden or in the middle of the desert, 100% eco-friendly or 100% homemade for those on a budget: today’s brides and grooms are breaking codes. Just like their relationship. Most get married when they’re already parents, others have already been through several unions and are (re)marrying late in life. Still others discover love with a person of the same sex, after having shared a classic family life.

For several months, we’ll be following four couples with different profiles, reflecting the current concerns of the French, who have decided to marry in their own way. They all have one thing in common: to make this unique day one of the most beautiful of their lives.
