Womens work at night | France 2 | Argent Public
In France, 800,000 women work at night. Although for a long time this was forbidden by an old French industrial law (1892), women’s work was authorized by a European directive in 1976. France has just modified the 1892 law to adapt it to the European directive. Starting now, women can work at night but are protected by a legal framework. For example, they do not have to accept night work and do not risk being fired if they refuse such a position. Also a woman who works at night can return to her day job. For this report, we followed a worker in the Peugeot company at Sochaux, as well as a team of night nurses in the Paris suburbs.
